Membership
The Connecticut Women’s Golf Association provides competitive golfing opportunities at member courses throughout the state. Beginning each spring, members can enjoy several rounds of golf, meet new friends and experience many levels of competition during the season. Competitive events are divided into three class levels of play: A, B and C. Class level is determined each year by a member’s handicap index at the start of the season. Each Class holds its own competitions during One-Day Tournaments and special Class Mixer events are offered that combine all three. Member Championships and other competitions involving teams from surrounding states are held annually. Each fall, teams from our member clubs are invited to take part in the CWGA Inter-Club Team Matches, a highly competitive and exciting series played in match-play format. For more information regarding golfing events offered by the CWGA, please visit our Tournament page. Publications Members of the Connecticut Women’s Golf Association receive an annual Membership Booklet that contains information regarding tournaments and schedules, a list of member clubs as well as policies and procedures. The Nutmeg Golfer, the news bulletin for the CWGA, is published bi-annually and is sent to all members. A booklet containing directions to member clubs is also available. Meetings A CWGA membership meeting is held annually in the fall and is open to all members. An awards ceremony is conducted and committees report on the highlights of the year. New officers are introduced and the meeting is concluded with a luncheon. Club Membership Any 18 hole private club in the state of Connecticut is welcome to join the Connecticut Women’s Golf Association. Member clubs are required to make their course available for a CWGA tournament no less than every two years and pay annual dues of $50.
