Who We Are

Our Purpose

The Connecticut Women's Golf Association ("CWGA" is a voluntary not-for-profit organization founded in 1919. We provide competitive golfing opportunities for our members, promote understanding of the rules of golf, and encourage female junior golfers statewide.

Individual Members

Any woman who is an active member of a CWGA member club who is eligible to participate in golfing activities at her club without payment of additional greens fees and who has a USGA index of 25.0 or lower may apply for membership in CWGA. We currently have about 425 members.

Join Us

Member Clubs

Any 18-hole private golf or country club in the state of Connecticut is welcome to join CWGA. Member clubs are required to make their course available for a CWGA tournament no less than every two years. We currently have 58 member clubs.

Our Volunteer Leaders

CWGA is led by an Executive Committee and Governing Board. Each member club is encouraged to name a Club Rep to facilitate communications between the Board and members.

What We Do

Tournaments

We hold tournaments at member courses throughout the state. Beginning each spring, members can enjoy several rounds of golf, meet new friends and experience many levels of competition during the season. Competitive events include individual stroke play and better/best ball tournaments. Member Championships and other competitions involving teams from surrounding states are held annually. Each fall, teams from our member clubs are invited to take part in the CWGA Past Presidents' Cup Team Matches, a highly competitive and exciting series played in match-play format.

Tournaments

Juniors

We hold the CWGA Juniors' Championship, open to CT female golfers under 18, annually. We also provide college scholarships through the Priscilla Maxwell Endicott Scholarship Fund.

Juniors

Meetings

Our annual meeting, open to all members, is held in October. Our Board meets regularly, and we also have a once yearly meeting for our Club Reps.

Communications

Communication with members takes several forms. We have our website, Golf Genius for tournaments, and send out monthly newsletters and other emails with announcements, information and reminders. We also encourage our Club Reps to contact members at their club about CWGA matters.
